Sport Pilot License

A Sport Pilot License can be a great alternative to a Private Pilot License. FAR Part 61 mandates less training and you're not required to complete an FAA medical exam:

-
Be at least 17 years old for the SPL
-
Be at least 16 years old to solo
-
Be proficient in the English language
-
No medical exam, just a valid driver's license!
-
Complete at least 15 hours of flight instruction
-
Complete at least 20 hours of total flight time
-
Receive and log ground training with an instructor
-
Pass an FAA written examination
-
Pass a practical examination with an examiner (i.e., "flight test")

Already Certificated Sport and Recreational Pilots

Many certificated Sport and Recreational Pilots chose to pursue further training after earning their license:

-
Class B, C, and D airspace/airfield privileges
-
Cross-Country privileges
-
Retraining for Recreational Pilots with no PIC time in the previous 180 days
-
Upgrade training to Private Pilot

*All Dual Instruction hours you logged toward your Sport or Recreational Certificate count toward the Private Pilot Certificate requirements!
